BRASS AND WOODWIND REPAIRS

We repair onsite Brass and Woodwind instruments, including dent removal, servicing and overhauls. At Oggies Music we also specialise in using Ultrasonic cleaning technology as part of our repair and servicing process. This process is environmentally friendly compared to the standard use of acids and chemicals. Service Descriptions

 

General Check or Working Order

This is normally done where possible without dismantling the instrument, it will be checked for leaks, pads re-seated and the instrument returned to playing order. Where possible the instrument will be lightly cleaned and oiled. Please be aware that all parts and additional work such as tenon cork replacement are charge at an additional rate.

Instrument Service

This involves a full dismantle of the instrument and a full clean of the body and the keywork. Pads will be checked and adjusted to ensure that they are sealing and where necessary they will be replaced. Minor dents and scratches will be removed where possible. The instrument will be oiled and restored to playing order. Please be aware that all parts and addition work such as tenon cork replacement or structural repairs will be at an additional cost.

Re-Pad

A re-pad is as per the Instrument Service, except that all the Pads are replaced, and where necessary corks, felts and tenon corks are included. Please be aware that any structural repairs will be at an additional cost. The re-pad service aims to put the instrument back to a good as new condition.

General Terms

For all the services offered please be prepared to leave the instrument for at least seven days. Where special parts are required this service period may be extended.

The minimum charge workshop charge is £22 the hourly rate is £32. Wear the hourly charge is more cost effected it will be applied instead on the standard charges. An example being when an instrument is checked for playing order and the work takes less then two hours.

All the prices quoted assume that the instrument has been recently in use and that it has been regularly looked after by a professional repairer. Some older models, non standard designs and instruments that are damaged will incur additional charges. The prices shown should be considered as a guideline and then adapted to take into account the additional works.
